(10/05/06) LAWRENCE ? Police arrested a Lawrence special education teacher Thursday after they say they found scores of child pornography on his computer.

Jeffrey Berke, a teacher at Lawrence Middle School for 15 years, allegedly had dozens of pictures and at least 16 video clips of children performing sexual acts on his computer. Police investigated Berke after receiving a tip last month. The father of two did not comment as he was led to a Nassau police van in handcuffs. Police say they will look into whether the special education teacher had any inappropriate contact with his students.

Berke was charged with three counts of possession of sexual performance by a child. He is forbidden from coming within 100 feet of school property.
