The UConn women’s basketball team received a raucous welcome back to Storrs on Monday night.

It was the Huskies’ first time back on campus since capturing the program’s 12th national championship, defeating South Carolina 82-59.

Players signed autographs, gave away T-shirts, and thanked the fans for all their support.

“I hope that all the girls know how much they’re supported here,” UConn freshman Ava Harriman says. “I hope that they’re glad to have a little break after a long month.”

It’s the third straight year the school celebrated a national champion in basketball. The UConn men celebrated back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024.

“That’s three years in a row now that Connecticut basketball rules the world,” UConn head coach Geno Auriemma says. “And next year, we’re gonna make it four!”

It’s the first national title for the women in nine years.

Plans are underway for a victory parade.
