Officials say there is a confirmed case of the enterovirus in Suffolk County.

Comswogue School District officials confirm a student at JFK Middle School in Port Jefferson has the respiratory illness, but it is not known if the enterovirus is the particular EV-D68 that has been affecting children around the country.

There is also a student at Cherokee Elementary School in the Connetquot District who has a "suspected case."

Last week, Nassau County confirmed its first case of the virus.
