Community leaders and elected officials met with developers Tuesday to discuss plans for a proposed shopping mall in Kingsbridge.
Leaders on Community Board 8 say with the recent housing boom, the area is in desperate need of some good retail outlets. The developer of the parking lot on West 230th Street and Broadway claims he has the perfect plans for a ?major urban mall.? The plans include a three-story mall with a movie theater on the top floor. The developer hopes to get electronic, hardware and clothing stores to take up shop inside the mall.
The developer told community leaders that there will be a big emphasis on creating jobs for Bronx residents. According to the developer, the construction of the mall should open up 200 jobs and long?term jobs will be created once the mall opens. The mall is expected to open by the end of 2008.
