The Commack High School kick line team came home from Florida after they won gold in a national competition.
The team brought home the winning trophy from the National Dance Alliance in Orlando.
"We won the large varsity kick category at the NDA Nationals this year,” said coach Nicole Baretsky.
The team of mostly girls and one boy got an escort from the airport by the Commack Fire Department and a hearty and loud welcome from parents, grandparents, students and supporters.
Coaches say while this Commack program has been going to nationals since the late 90s and have won championships over the years, they are excited for this group to get their hands on their own trophy.
"We're so happy to bring back another title this year, this team works incredibly hard and it's so nice to see that the work paid off,” said coach Alexa Armentano.
Their supporters stood out in the cold waiting to greet them with signs, flowers, hugs and cheers.
"We were not expecting this many people to come, I mean like we have a lot of supporters, but it was just amazing to see the support that we have," said team captain Alina Mirman.
