Former Islander Ray Ferraro's "Coliseum Connection" is the long-lasting memories associated with the arena.
Ferraro says people who have never been to the Coliseum will never appreciate how loud the crowd can get. He appreciates how playing at the Coliseum felt almost intimate, compared to the larger arenas built in more recent years.
Despite the aging building, Ferraro says what is most important about it is its history and the memories it made for so many people. "It's had better days and it's a place that needed a fresh paint a lot of times, but there were champions here. A dynasty was played here." Ferraro himself says he spent the best times of his career at the Coliseum.
After the Islanders move to Brooklyn, Ferraro says it won't matter what happens to the Coliseum because so many people will have great memories of their times there that they will never forget.
