An accident in Huntington Station has claimed the life of man and seriously injured another.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Friday at Pidgeon Hill Road and Windham Drive.

Police say the driver of an Acura crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a Toyota Sienna head-on.

Authorities say the passenger in the Acura, 30-year-old Coles Jacquet of Huntington Station, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 23-year-old Fermin Estevez, is in critical condition at Stony Brook University Medical Center with head injuries.

A family in the other car, including a couple and their three children, were taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash.
