A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for Northern Litchfield County, but all of western CT will see some accumulating snow today.
After a first batch of snowfall this morning, another round is likely through the afternoon. The snow will start light and fluffy as temperatures will start out just below freezing in the morning. The snow will become wetter and heavier as temperatures rise above freezing through the afternoon. Colder surfaces and the hills of Litchfield County will see the most snow, with up to 4 inches. There could be a few spots well north that see over 4 inches of snow. Areas south and closer to the Sound Shore will see less snow and a coating up to 2 inches from the I-95 corridor north.
Most of this will fall as snow, but there may be some mixing along the Sound up through I-95 in the afternoon.
Sunday's weather is turning snowier. A storm will develop offshore and slide north and east during the day. Snow will redevelop here locally if the storm comes close enough. Right now snow showers are likely the farther south and east you are. Minor accumulations are likely and possibly up to 1-3". Stay with News 12 CT for further details.
Colder air returns for the bitter blast part 2 next week. The coldest air of the season will bring temperatures that stay below freezing during the daytime and fall into the teens at night. Wind chills may feel like zero waking up Wednesday morning.
