NYC-OEM says Brooklyn could see as high as 4 inches of snow throughout the night, adding to the snow from the day before, to create slippery and cold conditions.

In response, the city’s Department of Homeless Services extended their Code Blue alert to keep the homeless off the streets as temperatures continue to drop.

Streets across the borough saw a mix of cleared walkways and large amounts of ice where salt was not applied evenly. One of those areas is Maria Hernandez Park – a frequent source of frustration for residents who say the walkways are iced over.

DSNY says crews have been out applying salt across roadways in anticipation of additional snowfall. It warned that if totals exceed over 2 inches that plows will not come out until later in the evening.

As of 10 p.m., the snow forced 369 delayed flights and 144 cancellations on Sunday at John F. Kennedy International Airport, and 362 delays with 166 cancellations at LaGuardia Airport.
