The U.S. Coast Guard has rescued a fisherman who had been last seen off the shores of Montauk this morning.

John Aldridge was found alive about 43 miles south of Montauk, and was treated for dehydration, exposure and hypothermia. A fisherman who was in the same boat as Aldridge called in for help at around 6 a.m. when he first noticed Aldridge was missing.

Coast Guard officials joined forces with local fishing vessels and good Samaritans to help locate Aldridge, a search that took more than eight hours to complete.
