A Coast Guard crew on Saturday rescued two boaters whose 10-foot foldable boat was taking on water off of Montauk Point.
The Coast Guard says the boaters radioed a distress call at 3:30 p.m. Saturday saying their boat was taking on water and drifting out to sea.
The boat had a small motor, but the motor couldn't keep up with the current.
A rescue crew was dispatched from Coast Guard Station Montauk.
Meanwhile, a fishing boat heard the distress call and located the foldable boat. The captain of the fishing boat provided a bucket to help keep the distressed vessel afloat.
Coast Guard crew members arrived and pulled the boaters from the sinking vessel aboard their rescue boat.
