Closing arguments were heard Tuesday in the Muttontown enslavement trial.
Two Indonesian housekeepers are accusing their employers of abusing and enslaving them. The two women claim Mahender and Varsha Sabhnani gave them little food, made them work long hours, abused them and made them sleep on the floor.
Throughout the trial, the jury heard from witnesses for the defense and from one of the housekeepers.
During closing arguments, the defense said the two women made up the stories. Prosecutors say the defense?s claim is just a blame game.
After the closing arguments, the judge spent three hours explaining the charges to the jury and giving the jurors instructions on how to come up with a verdict. The judge hopes to finish his instructions Wednesday so the jury can begin deliberations. During deliberations, the jury may review any and all evidence.
