State Sen. Ruben Diaz and sponsors gave out gifts Saturday at P.S. 5 as part of their annual Three Kings Day celebration.
In Latin tradition, children wait for the arrival of the Three Wise Men as opposed to Santa Claus.
Parents sat in the crowd as they watched men dressed as Melchor, Gaspar and Balthazar give gifts to the children in attendance. They say that nowadays it's hard to give your kids everything they want.
Sen. Diaz says he remembers what it was like living in Puerto Rico, where he wouldn't get a single toy during the holidays because his family was very poor. He says that is why he wants to give back, and then some.
