The Port Authority has decided to make changes to the new JFK runway plan due to the complaints of nearby Nassau County residents.

According to Newsday, an existing runway will be extended by only 728 feet.

Noise buffers like trees and fences will also be left alone.

The original plan had the runway moving north by more than 3, 000 feet.

That plan would have required planes to fly 200 feet lower over Nassau homes to land on the longer runway.

For years, residents in areas including Floral Park have complained about airplane noise.
