A sophomore at Central Islip High School was killed Thursday night when his car collided with two other vehicles.
Authorities say 17-year-old Kevin Hernandez-Pinto was driving south on Church Street around 11 p.m. and entered the intersection at Suffolk Avenue. He then hit a Mazda and a taxi cab. Six other people were taken to hospitals. Cops say they were not seriously injured and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
?He was like my big brother. I didn't want to lose him,? classmate Jacqueline Rios says. ?And I still can't believe it and I don't want to believe it.?
Friends say Hernandez-Pinto recently received his driver's permit.Suffolk police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call them.
