Long Island has the top 10 highest paid educators in the state, according to a Newsday report.
Recently released records from the New York State Retirement System shows some school district employees were given compensation packages close to or above $500,000 over the past year.
Seventy-seven of the top earners on the list are from Long Island, and nine out of 10 of the highest earners hail from the Central Islip School District.
Those high earners have compensation packages ranging from $444,000 to over $500,000.
