The head of a cancer research institute issued a health warning about cell phones Thursday that has many people talking.
University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute?s Dr. Ronald B. Herberman says though there is no proof cell phones cause cancer it?s still a good idea to limit their usage.
Herberman delivered the warning based on unpublished data.
NUMC cancer specialist Dr. Hesham Taha says people should heed the warning, but not panic. Moderation is the key, he says, because phones emit electromagnetic energy.
Taha recommends only talking on cell phones a few minutes at a time and to use speaker phone or a hands-free device. He also says kids should only use cell phones in emergencies.
