Caught on video: Ball of fire explodes at Babylon beach

A doorbell camera captured images of a ball of fire exploding on a beach in Babylon on Friday night.
The video was taken at around 11 p.m. from a home across the water on Oak Beach Road.
The homeowner who asked not to be identified said fires are frequently set on the sand at Sore Thumb Beach.
She says the fire was frightening and worries the wind could blow embers into the brush and trees nearby and start a fire in the area.
"This enormous explosion, the whole house shook, the glass rattled, and then I looked and there was an enormous fire," she recounted.
News 12 reached out to the Town of Babylon and the State Parks Department about fires being set on beaches in the area but had not head back as of Saturday night.
