Carle Place High School senior and two-sport star Ryan Leary has gotten the OK from the state to play both soccer and football.
As News 12 reported, the school district told Leary he could only play both sports if he was just the kicker on the school's football team. Leary, however, wanted to play wide receiver.
Leary says he was forced to choose just one sport – football. But now he can play both after the state ruled in favor of his appeal.
"I still picture myself as a freshman playing soccer and now I'm a senior and it was almost taken from me. So now I'm incredibly grateful for every second I'm on the pitch or the football field. I'm incredibly grateful for every second I have," Leary said.
The soccer team, which Leary helped win a state title game last year, has just two wins in 10 contests without him so far this season.
