A car slammed into an East Patchogue KFC Wednesday morning, leaving the driver seriously wounded and restaurant employees shaken.
Fire officials say the crash occurred at approximately 11:30 when 52-year-old Michael Parisi?s car plowed into the restaurant, located at East Main Street and Phyllis Drive. Police say he crossed over the intersection at Main Street at high speed and flew right into the restaurant wall without stopping.
Crews extracted Parisi from the vehicle and rushed him to Brookhaven Memorial hospital. One of the walls of the KFC partially collapsed as a result of the crash, but rescue officials say the situation could have been much worse.
KFC manager Angela Luna was inside the building at the time of the crash. Although she recalled some frightening moments, she says no employees were hurt. Luna also says several customers had been sitting at tables just before the car came crashing through.
