Two people are recovering after a car crash sent one car barreling through a neighborhood and into a house in Hauppauge.

"Just really crazy to hear," resident Brendan Landrigan said. "Kind of scary."

This afternoon, Suffolk County police said a 25-year-old Port Jefferson Station man was driving westbound on Route 347 when he suffered a medical episode in the left-turning lane at Plaisted Avenue around 7 p.m. yesterday.

The car in front, being driven by a 61-year-old man from Hauppauge, was pushed into the intersection while the driver who hit that car turned southbound on Plaisted Avenue.

The 25-year-old continued through the front lawn of 99 S Plaisted Ave., narrowly missing the house.

He then continued through two fences and a shed before slamming into the home next door at 30 Adrienne Ln.

"It's amazing that they didn't hit the other house as they came through like that," neighbor Joe White said.

The home sustained significant structural damage. A sign posted on the front door said the house was unsafe to occupy.

No one inside the home was hurt, according to the Smithtown Fire Department.

The driver and passenger in the car that crashed were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"I just want to make sure that everybody is okay," neighbor George Wiemer said. "There are children in the neighborhood. The young person who had this incident is, hopefully, okay. It's one of those things that could've been a tragedy."

No charges have been filed, Suffolk County police said.
