A car struck a popular kosher eatery in Lakewood on Friday morning.
The car slammed into the entrance of Glatt Gourmet, on the eve of the holiest day of the Jewish calendar year.
"I heard a big crash saw the car that was halfway into the store. The glass was broken. The chairs were broken, the wood on the floor," said an employee.
Glatt Gourmet is a staple in town where residents of Lakewood come to buy their prepared foods. They were particularly busy Friday morning as they prepare for Yom Kippur.
"It was business as usual, selling food before the fast of Yom Kippur and this year it happens to fall on sabbath," said Yitzchok Mandel, manager of Glatt Gourmet.
The crash took place at 8 a.m., 15 minutes before the restaurant opens.
"When I told the boss what happened, he said 'Lucky it was on stone and wood and no one got hurt.' Such a boss is unbelievable," said Mandel.
Police have not released information on the driver or the circumstances behind the crash.
