Canine Companions is ringing in National Puppy Day.

The organization pairs dogs with adults, children and veterans with disabilities and matches facility dogs to professionals working in health care, criminal justice and educational settings. It is participating in a weeklong celebration of puppies and posted its annual live puppy cam, a live feed of future service dogs, which will be up Monday through Friday this week from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Kismet Coffee, Kitchen & Cocktails also got in on the furry fun, hosting a special community event Monday. The business partnered with Canine Companions to provide patrons with a free hot or iced coffee while introducing them to service dogs from the organization.

It was part of the "Puppy Nation" initiative, which is "designed to connect the community with the mission of providing expertly trained service dogs to individuals with disabilities at no cost," according to a news release. The event provided guests an opportunity to meet the dogs and learn more about Canine Companions, which runs a puppy raising program and also seeks volunteers and donations.

Kismet owner Jackson Davis said he shares a connection with Canine Companions because his brother, Nick, was partnered with a service dog named Feathers.

"Seeing firsthand the independence and companionship that Feathers brought to my brother was life-changing for our family," Davis said, according to a news release. "We're honored to partner with Canine Companions to raise awareness and give our community a chance to experience a small part of that impact."
