A soldier made the long journey to Port Jefferson Station to be reunited with the dog he adopted in Afghanistan.
California National Guardsman Kevin Brady was forced to leave Bailey, a German Shepherd mix, after his tour in Afghanistan ended in May. That's when Brady reached out to Dori Scofield, founder of Save-A-Pet and Guardians of Rescue in Port Jefferson Station.
Scofield quickly helped raise $5,000 to coordinate Bailey's long and complicated return to the United States. After two months of being quarantined, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, Brady was finally able to pick Bailey up.
Today, Brady and Bailey went to Lake Tahoe before heading home to California.
