Merchants say they?re glad for stepped up foot traffic at a newly reopened Pelham Parkway subway stop but complained Monday that lack of parking due to construction is deterring shoppers.The 90-year-old station officially reopened last week after the Metropolitan Transportation Authority refurbished it. That project began in August 2005. Rainbow Diner owner George Arsenis says the opening will be good for his business. Others complained that the restoration took so long an old card shop may have gone.MTA officials say the work won?t be fully done until the end of the year. That schedule has some business owners worried about the holiday shopping season. The planning commission in charge of the subway stop work says they will try to figure out a way to make things easier for customers as the season nears.
