President George W. Bush spoke Monday to the graduating class at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.
Bush is the first president to speak to graduates at the Long Island school. Graduates from the school work as deck officers aboard container ships, oil tankers, passenger cruise ships and other vessels. During his commencement address, Bush gave a stern warning to Iran about its uranium enrichment. Bush also spoke about the war in Iraq.
Security was tight before, during and after the commencement address. Some organizations held an anti-war vigil close to where Bush was speaking.
