Business owners with shops on a stretch of Little East Neck Road in West Babylon are concerned following a rash of break-ins.
Police say a pizza parlor on the street was broken into early Wednesday morning. A day earlier, thieves struck a video game store down the block. They have surveillance footage of both robberies, but have made no arrests.
Police say there have been four or five burglaries along the block in the last month. Mike and Paul's Italian Bakery has been hit twice. Equipment and the holiday tip jar were stolen.
?I?m very nervous. I am insecure now, I?m afraid to come in at night,? Mario Accardo of Mike and Paul?s says.
Suffolk police are increasing patrols in the area, but say that?s all they can do because of the quick nature of the smash-and-grab burglaries.
Some storeowners say they are adding more surveillance cameras and alarms. Police ask anyone with information on any of the burglaries to call Suffolk CrimeStoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
