Officers responded to a burglary alarm at Webster Bank in Ridge Sunday but were met with an unexpected intruder – a buck.

Suffolk police say the buck crashed through the window of the bank and became trapped inside.

The deer frantically attempted to escape on its own, leaving a mess in the process.

Officers were able to safely lasso the animal and free him.

"He broke the one window and, trampled on some other stuff," says Suffolk Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina. "Took a little while to get control of it and again, safely get it outside. So, I think they did a phenomenal job."

Police identified the officers as Seventh Precinct officers Connor Kehoe, Jason Famoso, Shane Matedero, Michael Pitts and Salvatore Zafonte. They thanked them for helping the deer head in the right direction.

"Very crazy. I go to this bank at least two or three times a month," says Ridge resident Daisy Evans.

The bank is open. There is a window that is boarded up and fixed.
