Two young philanthropists showed love to police and firefighters with their second annual lemonade stand fundraiser.
Sean and Kyle Griffin are the sons of an NYPD sergeant who started the fundraiser last year to raise money for Answer the Call, a charity that collects donations for families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty.
This year’s stand was hosted at Cartwright Boulevard in Massapequa Park.
Dozens of police officers came to buy some lemonade and support the cause, including Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.
Lisa Tuozzolo, who lost her husband Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo of the NYPD, said she was proud of Sean and Kyle. She said the boys are teaching an “unbelievable lesson” to the surrounding community.
The boys’ mother says they’ve already raised $6,000 and were hoping to reach $10,000 by the end of the day. Last year the stand raised $7,000.
