Two brothers from Long Island are accused of running a counterfeiting operation that sold bogus health and beauty products.
Officials today announced the takedown of what's believed to be one of the largest counterfeit operations of health and beauty products. The alleged ring leaders, Pardeep Malick and his brother Hamant Mullick, are charged with felony trademark counterfeiting.
Authorities say the brothers and roughly 20 others were making the products in an Oceanside building, and storing and selling them at several other locations.
DA Kathleen Rice says the brothers were found to be selling the goods to distributors. Some of the products have turned up in New York, Pennsylvania and Florida.
Rice says the bogus products are being tested to find out what is actually in them.
