The Town of Brookhaven condemned two homes and partially condemned another Tuesday as part of an effort to improve the quality of life in some Suffolk communities.

Inspectors say a home on Weldon Lane in Port Jefferson Station had been broken up into 11 separate illegal bedrooms. They say the basement of the home and a shed in the backyard were also being used for habitation. The home was partially condemned.

Another home in Selden was condemned due to hoarding and the presence of animal feces.

Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine says they will be cracking down on more homes. He says there are 100 pending cases of code violations in Stony Brook alone.

Anyone that would like to report a potential housing code violation can call 631-451-TOWN to file a complaint.
