A new program at the Bronx Tennis Classic is giving local kids a chance to learn from the professionals, both on and off the court. The program offers free tennis lessons to Bronx kids from some of the professionals competing in this week's tournament.
?It?s a great opportunity for kids,? says instructor Victoria Vovsha. ?Instead of just not doing anything, they can come here and learn.?Program organizers say they hope to expose Bronx kids to something new while keeping them off the streets.?You?d be surprised at what can happen,? says Gary Davis, of the New York Junior Tennis League. ?Many of them end up falling in love with the sport.?
