Police say a Bronx mother is in critical condition Thursday after she was stabbed inside of her apartment.

The 28-year-old mother was stabbed numerous times inside her fourth-floor apartment at 2502 Barnes Ave. at about 2 a.m., authorities say.

Neighbors of the woman, who refused to comment on the record out of fear of reprisal, speculate that she was attacked by her former husband. They say the couple had lived apart for years, but that the ex-husband had repeatedly stalked the woman.

The victim is Albanian and lived at the home with her two children. Neighbors say she works near the apartment complex as a waitress.
