An ecstatic group of Bronx Catholics held a pep rally Saturday in advance of the pope's imminent visit to the borough.
Pope Benedict XVI will come to the Bronx in just over a week. Local Catholic bookstore owners teamed with Friars to pump up residents prior to the pope's arrival.
"It's an incredible opportunity for us here in the Bronx to say 'hey pope, we got love for you here'," says Brother Agustino Torres.
Some of the Friars may get to meet the pope when they celebrate Mass with him at Yankee Stadium. The group says although they may not personally meet him, the fact that the pope is coming to the borough is exciting enough.
"He's Christ represented here on Earth," says bookstore owner Neil Fusco. "Who could be more excited?"
