The high school football season officially kicks off Friday night, after a long offseason.
News 12 went inside the locker room at Newtown High ahead of the Nighthawks season opening game against No. 1 ranked New Canaan.
Some say Blue and Gold stadium is one of the toughest places for opposing teams to play in Connecticut.
"We're excited to play in front of our home crowd," says Newtown head coach Dan Farina. "They bring the energy, and we feed off of it."
Newtown lost to New Canaan in last year's state semifinals.
