Bridgeport man faces several charges after Fairfield traffic stop

Fairfield police arrested a Bridgeport man last month following a traffic stop on Post Road near Grasmere Avenue.
Officials say that an officer conducting traffic enforcement saw that the vehicle did not have a front license plate and determined that the rear registration plate had been canceled and reported stolen.

After pulling 36-year-old Jehu Antonio Cruz-Ramirez over, officials say he was driving without a license. He initially provided officers with multiple false names, police said.
Police say his identity was later confirmed through fingerprints.
During the investigation, officers located a large kitchen knife next to the driver's seat and a realistic-looking facsimile shotgun on the floor behind the front seats.
Cruz-Ramirez was charged with interfering with an officer, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, illegal use of a facsimile firearm, failure to display plates, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to insure, and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
He was held on a $2,500 bond and was scheduled to appear at Bridgeport Superior Court on Aug. 24, 2026.
During processing, officers learned Cruz-Ramirez had two active warrants out of New London. He was scheduled to appear at New London Superior Court on August 31, 2026, in connection with those warrants.
