A Brentwood woman was killed Friday after being struck by two cars in Brentwood.
Police say 45-year-old Lillian Maldonado-Gomez was crossing Fifth Avenue at Sweeneydale Avenue just after 9 a.m. when she was struck by the first car, with drunk driver Freddie Stewart behind the wheel. Police say her body was thrown into the road, where a small red, foreign-looking car ran her down. The driver of that car fled the scene.
Maldonado-Gomez was rushed to the hospital, where she later died. Stewart, a retired NYPD officer, was arrested and charged with DWI. Police are still searching for the driver of the second car. Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
