(AP) - A mother has struck and seriously injuredher 3-year-old son with her car in the family's Long Islanddriveway after he ran out to greet her.
Suffolk County police say Brentwood resident Patricia Vasquezwas backing her car into the driveway Monday afternoon when KennethAlfaro ran out of the house.
Police say the mother didn't know her son was in the drivewayand hit him with the car.
Vasquez immediately drove the boy to a hospital. Kenneth islisted in serious but stable condition with head and neckfractures.
The mother's car has been impounded for a safety check.
