New charges have been filed against a Brentwood man who is accused of running rental scams.
News 12 previously reported that 59-year-old Aleandro Claudio is facing multiple charges, including scheming to defraud, grand larceny and issuing bad checks in connection to a string of rental scams.
Claudio appeared in court Thursday to face new charges, including grand larceny.
He allegedly collected deposits for apartments, then claimed them to be unavailable, as well as wrote checks that bounced.
Authorities say his victims included a double amputee, a homeless woman and a family with a new baby.
One of the victims says Claudio took $1,700 from her in March for an apartment that wasn't available. She says she still hasn't received her money and is glad Claudio is behind bars.
Seven more people have since come forward saying they were victimized as well.
Claudio's bail was set at $33,000 cash.
