Courageous souls spent some time on New Year's in the frigid waters of the Northport Bay, and it was all for a good cause.
The annual Polar Plunge was sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 410. Some participants wore holiday costumes as they stormed into the water at Steers Beach.
The frosty dip helps to raise food pantry funds that help feed those in need. Last year, organizers say the event raised about $4,500.
This year, they hoped to raise at least $7,000.
