Police say an 11-year-old boy was seriously hurt after falling from an escalator at the Roosevelt Field mall.
The incident happened just after 3 p.m. Sunday inside the Neiman Marcus store.
The boy was somehow hanging onto the escalator railing as it was going up, according to authorities.
Police say when he reached the top, he fell 30 feet, hitting his mother on the way down.
The boy is in the hospital with a serious head injury. His mother sustained a foot injury.
