A 12-year-old boy was bitten by a 5-month-old pit bull while waiting for his bus in East Patchogue Tuesday.
The victim, Stephen Neumann, says the dog first went after his friend. However, Neumann says he was the one who was eventually bitten by the animal. When the bus showed up, the driver was able to get the dog off Neumann by hitting it with a broom. Neumann suffered wounds on his ankles from the puppy.
The dog lives in a house across the street from the bus stop. The Town of Brookhaven cannot seize the dog in the home without a complaint that could result in a court order. Dawn Neumann, the boy?s mother, says she doesn?t want to go that far. She says she just wants the owner to take control of her dog so no one else gets hurt.
