Borough President Eric Adams hosted an evening of thankfulness, music and special treats for some of Brooklyn's under-served children.
The event, which Adams called a celebration of praise and Thanksgiving concert, was held at the Walt Whitman Theater at Brooklyn College.
Attendees were asked to donate toys for the BPS Toy Drive, and they complied. Boxes of dolls and trucks and other items were collected for children in need.
The toys will go to church groups, soup kitchens and other charities that will pass them along to children in need.
Adams and other officials said the event also marked a moment for the community to pray and to heal after the turbulent events surrounding Ferguson, Missouri, and other police-involved deaths in New York.
