A West Islip woman has been arrested for embezzling $385,000 from her employer, according to Suffolk County police.

Patricia Sparby allegedly wrote herself checks while working as a bookkeeper for R&J Display Inc. in West Babylon.

She did so over a five-year time period from Jan. 2019 to Aug. 2024, police say.

The fraud was eventually discovered during an internal audit of bank statements last year.

She was arrested after an investigation by detectives at the Suffolk County Police Financial Crimes Unit and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office Financial Crimes Bureau.

She is charged with grand larceny.
