Thousands of motorcycle riders gathered for a good cause Sunday: to raise money for charity in a five-borough tour.
The Blue Knights, made up of retired and current police officers, gathered at Allen Shandler Recreation Area inside Van Cortlandt Park to register. They then revved their engines and kicked off the tour in the Bronx, eventually winding through Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island and Queens.
The annual ride also featured a wedding, in which a biker couple tied the knot in front of the fleet of bikes.
Bronx residents showed up to support the event and NYPD. "What better thing to do on a Sunday than to support the police who protect us every day," said Charlie Yohe. "It's excellent."
The president of the local Blue Knights chapter hopes the ride will raise more than $25,000 for local charities throughout the Bronx.
