News 12 Long Island received numerous complaints about no mail service in several towns for two, three or even five days after Thursday's blizzard.
According to the Postal Service, letter carriers are not required to make deliveries if a dangerous situation exists. That could include a snow-packed path or icy steps.
Chuck Ianson, of South Farmingdale, says his driveway and stoop have been perfectly cleared ever since the day of the storm.
"The first few days I didn't mind, but when it came to Monday and Tuesday it got a little frustrating," says Ianson.
Similar accounts have come from residents in Seaford, Merrick and Massapequa.
The U.S. Postal Service acknowledged that there had been problems in a statement.
"Some pockets of delivery did see impacts in the days following last Thursday and Friday's severe weather," the statement said. "Operations have returned to full working order and we are making all deliveries that are safe to execute."
Ianson says he did receive his mail Wednesday morning.
