Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman is planning to introduce legislation that would ban transgender women from playing on female sports teams at county-owned facilities.
Blakeman first introduced the ban as an executive order and has faced legal challenges. The executive order was struck down in May by the Nassau County Supreme Court.
Presiding Officer Howard Kopel and members of the Legislature are expected to join Blakeman on Friday to codify the county executive’s executive order into county law.
