The weather this week looks wonderfully warm. But there is a small caveat - the weather pattern looks a little unsettled. Now I'm not forecasting a washout this week. There is, however, an opportunity for a few isolated showers or non-severe thunderstorms to cruise through a few neighborhoods at some point.
After a wonderfully mild weather day on Monday, where afternoon highs ranged some 15 to 20 degrees warmer than just 24 hours ago, clouds will begin to collect. This blanket of cloud coverage will keep the atmosphere insulated, so nighttime lows will be on the very mild side. Some spots tonight will see overnight temperatures as warm as where the daytime highs would usually be.
Tuesday is a mixture of sun and clouds with hints of sun. Afternoon highs will warm dramatically with that sunshine and a favorable wind. The wind will be breezy from the south-southwest. The two meteorological influences will allow temperatures to surge quickly into the upper 70s. (56 degrees is a normal afternoon high for the end of March).
By the middle of the week, the temperatures are expected to soar. Most areas, except for the shore, will be well into the low 80s. It's possible it could turn into a record-challenging day. (Records to watch: Newark with 82 degrees in 1978. Trenton with 81 degrees in 1986. Atlantic City with 80 degrees in 1978) It's later in the evening, after the warmth has been achieved, that a weather system will slowly sink into the area briefly, before lifting out and returning the warmth to the area for the second half of the week.
Stay tuned!
