TONIGHT: STORM WATCH -- Mainly cloudy with the chance for scattered showers and a few strong to severe thunderstorms through mid-evening. Not all of Long Island will get strong storms. In fact, the chance appears to be a bit more isolated at this time. That said, strong wind, downpours, frequent lightning, hail and a low risk for a tornado remain possible until that scattered storm threat ends. Use caution traveling if bad weather hits where you are. The chance for any pop-up stronger thunderstorms will diminish after 8 p.m or 9 p.m. Then, expect a mainly cloudy sky overnight with some patchy fog and spotty light rain or drizzle from time to time. Lows in the 60s into Wednesday morning. Wind: east-northeast 5 to 15 mph.
WEDNESDAY: A changeable weather day with a mostly cloudy and the chance for a couple of passing rain showers. Breaks of sun possible. Highs around the lower to middle 70s. Lows near 66 degrees.
THURSDAY: STORM WATCH -- A round of showers and thunderstorms in the morning. Then, partly sunny in the afternoon with a pop-up shower or storm chance. It will not be a washout of an afternoon, but a brief heavy drenching thunderstorm will be possible. Highs around 83 degrees. Lows near 67 degrees.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Highs around 82 degrees. Lows near 64 degrees.
SATURDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 76 degrees. Lows near 60 degrees.
SUNDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 75 degrees. Lows near 60 degrees.
MONDAY: LABOR DAY -- Sun and clouds. Highs around 76 degrees. Lows near 60 degrees.
TUESDAY: Sun and clouds to start. Periods of rain will be possible in the afternoon and evening. Highs around 76 degrees. Lows near 62 degrees.
