SPACEX ROCKET LAUNCH EARLY THIS MORNING
If you are up at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday and look toward the southeastern sky, there is a chance you might notice a SPACEX rocket launch light up the sky for a few minutes around 6:33 a.m. If you see it, send in any photos you get!
A little patchy fog to start our morning, but overall, we're looking at another nice day across Long Island. We'll see some sunshine breaking through the clouds this morning, followed by a mixture of sun and clouds during the afternoon. Temperatures will be comfortable for mid-October, with highs generally in the upper 60s to lower 70s. It's another great afternoon to get outside and enjoy the mild fall weather.
Tonight, we'll have partly cloudy skies and relatively mild conditions for this time of year. Overnight temperatures will drop into the lower to middle 60s. Wednesday will bring a taste of summer to Long Island, with temperatures climbing into the 70s and even lower 80s in some spots, especially across Nassau County and western Suffolk.
We'll see a mixture of sun and clouds, with southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph making it a little breezy at times. There's a slight chance of a passing shower late in the day, but most of Wednesday should remain dry. Enjoy the warmth because some big changes are coming our way!
Thursday brings a return to more typical October weather. We'll have plenty of sunshine, but temperatures will be cooler, with afternoon highs generally in the middle 60s. Clouds return Friday, along with periods of showers and temperatures ranging from 65 to 70 degrees. A strong cold front will move through Friday night, bringing a dramatic change in our weather. Behind the front, colder air will rush into the region, accompanied by gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph. Temperatures will tumble into the lower 40s by Saturday morning, with wind chills making it feel more like the 30s. It's going to be quite a shock after Wednesday's summerlike warmth!
