Clouds this morning will give way to partly sunny skies. High temperatures will range from 40 to 45 degrees. A few showers will develop after 4 p.m. with the best chance of wet weather over Southern areas of Nassau and Suffolk county. There is an even bigger warm up still expected starting this weekend. Watch out for puddles and potholes then next couple of days.

THURSDAY: Cloudy skies with periods of rain. Highs will be near 42 degrees. This can cause some new large puddles, be alert for changing roads conditions.

FRIDAY: Cloudy skies. Steady, moderate rain through the morning commute will slow travel. Drier weather develops after 10 a.m. and into the afternoon. Highs will be 40 to 45 degrees.

Potholes can be more difficult to see filled with water and there will be larger puddles around at times this week due to rain chances and more melting snow. Potholes can always be a problem this time of year, especially with daytime warming above freezing and overnight refreezing some nights. While an isolated rain shower cannot be ruled out on Saturday and Sunday, both days should be mainly dry overall with high temperatures in the 50s for most of Long Island. Nassau County and parts of western Suffolk County can get close to 60 degrees by Sunday! It looks like those high temperatures mostly in the 50s will continue through most of next week, too.
