? Shea Stadium played host to legendary song man Billy Joel Wednesday night in the first of two concerts scheduled for the ballpark.

Joel?s performance marks another historic musical show for the stadium. The Beatles made headlines with their performance there 43 years ago, as did The Police in the 80s. It seems fitting for Joel to play on such hallowed ground, considering The Piano Man has said he embarked on his musical career after seeing the Fab Four play on the Ed Sullivan show.

Joel, a six-time Grammy winner, promised the 55,000 fans in attendance Wednesday night could see some surprise special guests. He is the last in the short list of A-list musicians to grace the stage at the legendary ballpark.
